Traditional Orthodox icon board with Kovcheg, professionally prepared for icon painting using time-tested iconographic methods.

Each panel is made from carefully selected solid wood and reinforced with hardwood splines for long-term stability. The painting surface is prepared with Pavoloka and traditional Levkas (gesso), then carefully sanded to create a smooth, absorbent surface ready for iconography.

Unlike factory-primed art panels, this board is created specifically for traditional Orthodox and Byzantine icon painting.

Without Protective Finish

The wooden back and sides remain untreated, allowing the iconographer to finish them according to personal preference.

With Protective Finish

The back and sides receive a protective treatment that helps reduce moisture absorption and gives the wood a clean, finished appearance.

We carefully control the woodworking, stability of the panel, preparation of the Kovcheg, application of Pavoloka and Levkas, and final sanding of the painting surface.

Each board is individually inspected before shipment.
